While the percentage of domain knowing has the lowest percentage of 20.22% with 445 items. ![]() The percentage of reasoning domains is 27.85% with 613 items. ![]() The results of the analysis conducted on 2201 items, domain applying has the highest percentage of 51.93% with 1143 items. ![]() This study uses qualitative data analysis methods. Testing the validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources techniques. Data collection in this study uses the documentation method. Sources of data in this study were three different mathematics books grade VIII semester 1. The data in this study were practice questions and competency test questions in mathematics book grade VIII semester 1. Formal objects in this study are cognitive TIMSS including knowing, applying, and reasoning. The material object in this study is mathematics book grade VIII semester 1. Research objects include material objects and formal objects. This type of research is qualitative research. The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of the questions on the mathematics books of junior high school VIII semester 1 in terms of the cognitive aspects of TIMSS. The average value of Indonesia's fourth grade students at TIMSS 2015 is 397, which is far below the midpoint of the TIMSS 500 scale. In 2015 Indonesia, for the first time, participated in TIMSS for the fourth grade. The average achievement of Indonesian participants at TIMSS 2011 was 386, which means it was at a low level.
